Short Bio

Dmitry’s professional life revolves around entrepreneurship, innovation, and sailing. He is an educator in the area of entrepreneurship and new venture creation. He is a licensed sailing captain with over 3500 nautical miles sailed in the past 7 years. Dmitry currently works at Digital October center.
In the recent past, he was a Professor of Entrepreneurship at SKOLKOVO Moscow School of Management, where he was also responsible for the Startup Module of the FT-MBA program and joint Intel-SKOLKOVO project, the Innovation Design Lab.

Dmitry has created eXtrepreneurship, a unique program, where he teaches entrepreneurship aboard a sailboat. Dmitry has been the Head of HSE{Inc}, a business incubator at the Higher School of Economics, that became a leading student business incubator in Russia since its inception in 2006. Dmitry currently serves as an advisor or board member at several startup companies and non-profit institutions. Dmitry has received education in theoretical and experimental physics, cognitive neuroscience, and finance in Russia and in the US.

Dmitry Repin currently works at Digital October, where he is responsible for the content part and organization of educational programs and events. Recently, he was a Startup Projects Director and Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at SKOLKOVO Moscow School of Management. He was responsible for the Startup Module of the FT-MBA program, and interaction with the SKOLKOVO-Nanotech venture fund. Dmitry was also a Head of the Innovation Design Lab, a joint project between SKOLKOVO and Intel Corporation. Prior to joining SKOLKOVO in 2009, Dmitry has been a Professor of Finance with the Corporate Finance Department at the Higher School of Economics in 2004-2010. He led HSE{Inc}, business incubator at the Higher School of Economics, to become a leading student business incubator in Russia since its inception in 2006.

In 2002-2004, Dmitry worked at the MIT Sloan School of Management as a Postdoctoral Fellow and then a Senior Researcher at the Lab for Financial Engineering supervising and conducting experiments investigating the role of emotions in financial decision-making with professional individual and institutional traders including Boston Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange. In 2000-2002, he worked at Boston area financial technology startups, LifeHarbor Investments and Thinking Investments as a Financial Engineer and a Senior Researcher, respectively.

Dmitry’s education includes a Dipl. Eng. degree in theoretical and experimental physics from Moscow Engineering and Physics Institute (1996), a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from Boston University (2000) and executive education programs in entrepreneurship from Harvard Business School (2005), UC California at Berkeley (2007), IESE School in Barcelona (2010).

Dmitry serves as an advisor or board member at several startup companies and non-profit institutions including HSE{Inc}, Russian Association for Entrepreneurship Education.

Dmitry is also a licensed sailing captain with over 3500 nautical miles sailed since 2004 and the author of eXtrepreneurship, a unique program, where he teaches entrepreneurship aboard a sailboat. The eXtrepreneurship theme has also evolved into a program aboard barque Kruzenshtern, one of the world’s most famous sailing ships, where from Aug 29 till Sept 5 of 2010 a team of SKOLKOVO EMBAs team has sailed over 930 nautical miles in 6 days, out of those 207 miles under sail alone.
